The
first few weeks of school have gone
smoothly.
I want to thank all the staff and
parents
for their help opening school. The
children
are making the transition from
home
to school as they get to know their
teachers,
become familiar with the classroom,
try
new activities, and make new
friends.
Parents are also getting to know
one
another and are hopefully enjoying the
co-op
experience.
It
was nice to see so many families at
the TOPS picnic. The
activities were such fun for the
children. Thank you the
committee for providing such a lovely
day for all the families.
As
a response to the parent survey a few
years ago we had
our teacher-parent visits for the DK
class, 2’s classes,
and 3’s class. This is an
opportunity for the parents
to
meet one on one with your child’s
teacher to discuss anything
you might want to share with us about
your
child, or ask questions about your
child’s day at school.
I hope you found them helpful. We will
have more
formal conferences in the spring.
October
is going to be a busy month at TOPS
with activities relating
to Fall - autumn leaves, harvest,
pumpkins and
Halloween. The TOPS parade will be on
Monday, Oct.
31st. for the DK class and the four
year
olds. After
the parade, the children return to the
classroom for a
regular day.
Children are
allowed to wear their costumes at
school
if they are safe and comfortable.
Please
keep costumes simple and comfortable
and
remember that we do not allow masks to
be
worn at school. Halloween is a fun
holiday, but
remember to listen to your child’s
concerns
and plan activities appropriate for
his/her
age.
We
will be celebrating the children’s
birthdays at
11:40 in the morning at Big Circle.
The
sign up calendar is located above the
nametag board on
the outside door. The children return
to their small circle
groups to finish the morning.
A
donation drive has been organized for
victims of the Katrina disaster.
Please place donations in
the baskets on the bench outside the
office.
A
special thank you to TOPS parents for
the work they have done to update and
beautify the DK garden for
the children. Please take time to
notice the colorful changes.
Parents have also been working on the
sprinklers and plantings in the garden
for
all to enjoy.
